Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch 5-in-1 Espresso Machine – Cream
Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch 5-in-1 – Compact Espresso Machine with Steam Wand
The Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch 5-in-1 is a compact semi-automatic espresso machine combining touchscreen drink presets, a traditional portafilter, rapid Thermoblock heating and an integrated steam wand.
It sits in an interesting position between a basic manual espresso machine and a fully automatic coffee machine. The touchscreen simplifies brewing with presets for single espresso, double espresso, Americano and rapid cold coffee, but you still prepare the coffee in a portafilter and texture milk using the steam wand.
That makes it particularly interesting for someone who wants some convenience without completely removing the hands-on elements of making espresso and milk drinks.
This is the cream HBC5210C model, with a 1.2-litre removable water tank and particularly narrow 14.2cm body.

Why Consider the Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch?
The main attraction here is the combination of compact dimensions and assisted brewing.
At approximately 14.2cm wide, the machine occupies considerably less counter width than many larger espresso systems, while still providing a portafilter and separate steam wand.
The touchscreen then simplifies several common drinks with preset programmes rather than requiring every water quantity to be controlled manually.
It's therefore aimed less at the enthusiast wanting maximum control over every extraction variable and more at someone who wants to make espresso-based drinks at home without buying a large or particularly complicated machine.
Key Features
- 5 touchscreen functions – Single espresso, double espresso, Americano, cold brew and milk frothing.
- Integrated steam wand – Allows you to heat and texture milk manually for drinks such as cappuccino, latte and flat white.
- Thermoblock heating – Hamilton Beach specifies approximately 45 seconds to reach brewing temperature.
- 20-bar pump – Provides the pressure system used by the machine for espresso brewing.
- 1.2-litre removable water tank – Provides a useful capacity while keeping the machine relatively compact.
- Single and double filter baskets – Both are supplied with the machine.
- Dual coffee spout – Allows coffee to be dispensed through the two-spout portafilter.
- Rapid cold-coffee programme – Produces a chilled-style coffee extraction in approximately 30–40 seconds.

- Compact 14.2cm width – Particularly useful where kitchen counter space is limited.
What Does 5-in-1 Actually Mean?
The “5-in-1” description refers to the machine's five touchscreen functions rather than five completely separate brewing systems.
They are:
- Single Espresso
- Double Espresso
- Americano
- Cold Brew
- Milk Froth
The first three provide convenient preset coffee options, while the milk function works with the integrated steam wand to prepare milk for drinks such as cappuccino and latte.
It's a useful distinction because this isn't a fully automatic machine that makes five finished drinks without any involvement from you.
Is It Fully Automatic?
No.
The BaristaPro Touch automates parts of the brewing process, but it remains a portafilter espresso machine.
You'll still need to add ground coffee to the filter basket, distribute and tamp it, attach the portafilter and clean it after brewing.
For milk drinks, you'll also use the steam wand to texture the milk yourself.
That gives you more involvement than a one-touch bean-to-cup machine, while the touchscreen presets reduce some of the measurement and timing involved in a completely manual espresso workflow.
You'll Need a Coffee Grinder
One important point when budgeting for this machine is that it doesn't include a built-in grinder.
You can use appropriately ground coffee, but if you want to explore espresso properly, a capable burr grinder is one of the most useful additions you can make.
Fresh coffee changes as it ages, and being able to adjust grind size gives you considerably more control than relying permanently on one pre-ground setting.
If you don't already own an espresso-capable grinder, we'd factor that into the overall cost rather than spending the entire budget on the machine itself.
Using the Steam Wand
The integrated steam wand is one of the reasons this machine offers more room to learn than a capsule system or completely automatic milk dispenser.
Instead of pressing a button and receiving pre-frothed milk, you control the jug and steam wand yourself.
That means there's a learning curve, but it also gives you the opportunity to experiment with milk texture.
A cappuccino generally benefits from more aeration and foam, while a flatter milk drink calls for a finer, more integrated texture.
Don't expect perfect microfoam immediately. Milk texturing is a practical skill, and improving it comes from learning how much air to introduce and how to create circulation within the jug.
What About the 20-Bar Pump?
Hamilton Beach advertises a 20-bar pressure system.
We wouldn't choose an espresso machine simply because one manufacturer advertises a larger pump-pressure number than another.
The pump's maximum rating isn't the same thing as saying the coffee should actually be extracted at 20 bar.
Good espresso depends on the complete brewing system and, importantly, how coffee dose, grind and preparation interact with it.
The useful point here is simply that the machine contains a pump designed to provide the pressure required by its espresso brewing system.
Rapid Heating
Hamilton Beach uses a Thermoblock heating system and specifies a warm-up time of approximately 45 seconds.
That's useful for everyday home brewing because you don't need to leave a large boiler heating for an extended period before making coffee.
It's particularly well suited to someone who wants to make one or two drinks relatively quickly in the morning.
What Is the Cold Brew Function?
This needs some clarification.
Hamilton Beach calls the feature ColdBrew Express and states that it produces cold coffee in approximately 30–40 seconds.
Traditional cold brew is normally produced by leaving coffee in contact with cool water for several hours.
A machine producing coffee in under a minute is therefore using a very different extraction process.
We'd think of the BaristaPro function as a rapid cold-coffee option rather than expecting it to reproduce exactly the same extraction as an overnight immersion cold brew.
It can still be useful for iced drinks – just understand what the feature actually does before buying the machine specifically for it.
How Compact Is It?
This is one of the machine's more interesting features.
Hamilton Beach currently specifies dimensions of approximately:
- Height: 31.7cm
- Width: 14.2cm
- Depth: approximately 30cm
- Weight: 3.5kg
That narrow width makes the BaristaPro Touch particularly worth considering for smaller kitchens where a large espresso machine and grinder combination can quickly dominate the worktop.
Remember to allow additional working space for attaching and removing the portafilter and using a milk jug beside the machine.
1.2-Litre Water Tank
The removable water tank holds approximately 1.2 litres.
That's a sensible compromise for a compact machine: large enough that you shouldn't need to refill it after every drink, without adding the bulk of a much larger reservoir.
Milk steaming also consumes water, so households making several milk drinks together will naturally refill it more frequently.
What's Included?
Hamilton Beach currently lists the following equipment with the BaristaPro Touch:
- BaristaPro Touch espresso machine;
- portafilter;
- single-shot filter basket;
- double-shot filter basket;
- 2-in-1 coffee scoop and tamper; and
- instruction manual.
You'll need your own coffee, cup and – for milk drinks – a suitable milk jug.
A separate burr grinder is also worth considering if you intend to buy whole beans and dial in your espresso.
Who Is the BaristaPro Touch Best For?
This machine is particularly worth considering if you:
- want to start making espresso-based drinks at home;
- want more involvement than a capsule or fully automatic machine provides;
- like touchscreen presets but still want a portafilter;
- want to learn basic milk steaming;
- have limited kitchen worktop space;
- want espresso, Americano and cold-coffee options from one machine; or
- don't need an integrated coffee grinder.
Who Should Look Elsewhere?
If you want coffee from whole beans at the touch of one button, a fully automatic bean-to-cup machine will require less preparation.
If you specifically want a built-in grinder, the BaristaPro Touch isn't an all-in-one solution and you'll need separate equipment.
Experienced espresso enthusiasts who want extensive control over brewing temperature, pressure, pre-infusion and other extraction variables may also find the preset-led approach limiting.
And if automatic milk drinks are your priority, Hamilton Beach's larger BaristaPro+ 8-in-1 uses an integrated milk system rather than this model's manual steam wand. Hamilton Beach currently lists that as a separate model.
BaristaPro Touch vs Ninja Luxe Café Premier
These machines target rather different budgets and workflows.
The Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch is considerably simpler. It has no integrated grinder or scale, and you prepare and tamp the coffee yourself.
The Ninja Luxe Café Premier incorporates a grinder, weighing assistance, guided preparation, assisted tamping and automatic milk frothing, as well as espresso and filter-style coffee functions.
The Ninja therefore provides a more complete assisted coffee station, while the Hamilton Beach gives you a much smaller and simpler espresso setup.
If you already own a suitable grinder – or deliberately want to choose one separately – the Hamilton Beach approach can make good sense.
Cleaning and Maintenance
Like any espresso machine, the BaristaPro Touch needs regular cleaning rather than simply being wiped down occasionally.
After making espresso, empty and rinse the portafilter and filter basket and keep the brew area clean.
The steam wand should be wiped and purged promptly after steaming milk so residue doesn't dry onto or inside it.
The water tank and drip tray also need routine cleaning, and the machine will require periodic descaling according to your water and usage.
Regular basic maintenance is considerably easier than trying to remove accumulated coffee oils, milk residue or scale later.
Our Take
The Hamilton Beach BaristaPro Touch 5-in-1 has a sensible place in the home espresso market.
It doesn't try to be a complete bean-to-cup system. Instead, it combines a traditional portafilter and manual steam wand with touchscreen brewing presets.
Its particularly narrow body, rapid Thermoblock heating and 1.2-litre tank make it interesting for smaller kitchens, while the manual steam wand leaves enough involvement for someone who wants to learn milk preparation rather than have the machine do everything automatically.
The lack of a grinder is both a limitation and, potentially, an advantage. It adds another purchase if you're starting from nothing, but it also lets you choose a grinder independently rather than being permanently tied to whatever is built into the machine.
We'd be more cautious about buying it solely for the rapid “cold brew” feature, because that shouldn't be confused with traditional long-steeped cold brew.
For someone looking for a compact first espresso machine with useful assistance and room to develop some practical skills, however, the overall proposition makes sense.
