The AeroPress method in a transparent chamber
The AeroPress Clear takes the familiar combination of immersion, filtration and manual pressing and puts it in transparent Tritan. The central buying distinction from the Original is material and visibility, not a fundamentally different brewing process.
This overview is adapted from our existing equipment review, not a hands-on testing report. Specifications and manufacturer guidance below reflect that source. Check the exact current version and supplied instructions before buying or brewing.

Why consider the Clear?
Consider it if the AeroPress workflow appeals and you prefer to see the liquid inside the chamber. You can watch the level and the chamber emptying during pressing, but transparency alone does not establish better extraction or flavour.
The brewer requires no power itself. You still need coffee, hot water, compatible filtration and a sturdy receiving mug.
Source-listed features
- 10oz capacity, described as approximately 1–2 cups.
- Transparent Tritan chamber and plunger.
- Standard-size AeroPress paper filters.
- Immersion followed by gentle manual pressing through the filter.
- Approximately 5.25 inches high and 4.2 inches wide.
- Manufacturer-described BPA-free materials.
- Dishwasher suitability recorded in the original review.
These are source-listed details, not laboratory test results. Tritan is a plastic, not glass. Do not interpret a description such as shatter-resistant as unbreakable or as a measured durability result from us.
How brewing works
Coffee and water spend time together in the chamber. The plunger then pushes the drink through a paper filter into your mug. Dose, grind, water quantity, temperature, steeping and dilution all offer room for experimentation.
With paper, much fine sediment is retained compared with a conventional metal-mesh French press. The beans and recipe still shape the drink; there is no single guaranteed AeroPress flavour.
Does it brew better than the Original?
Not simply because it is clear. The source describes the same core brewing method and 10oz format in both models, with polypropylene in the Original and transparent Tritan in the Clear.
Compare current price, materials and appearance. We have not performed comparative taste, thermal or durability testing, so this review does not claim a performance advantage for either model.
Capacity and serving expectations
The source-listed 10oz format is primarily suited to an individual serving. Small-cup labels should not be read as two full UK mugs, and stated capacity is not a guarantee of yield for every recipe.
The original review also describes smaller concentrates for dilution or milk drinks. That does not make the Clear a conventional espresso machine. Confirm the exact capacity if comparing it with a larger Clear XL or another edition.
Espresso-style is not conventional espresso
A concentrated AeroPress recipe can provide a short drink or a base for added water or separately prepared milk. It does not reproduce the pressure system and extraction of a pump-driven espresso machine.
Do not try to create espresso pressure by forcing the plunger. Use gentle pressure and follow the manufacturer's guidance.
An upright starting method
The existing review records a simple manufacturer method using medium-fine coffee, a compatible Standard filter, hot water to the number 4 marking, a brief stir and slow pressing. Check the current supplied instructions for your exact brewer rather than assuming all markings and recipes are identical.
- Fit the filter in the cap and secure it as directed.
- Stand the chamber upright on a sturdy, compatible mug on a stable surface.
- Add the coffee and water within the brewer's fill guidance.
- Stir gently according to your chosen upright recipe.
- Insert the plunger as instructed and press slowly with gentle, steady pressure.
Never force a resistant plunger. Follow the manual's handling and safety requirements for hot water. Recording coffee and water mass can help you reproduce the recipe more reliably than an imprecise scoop alone.
Filters and accessories
The source identifies Standard AeroPress papers as the intended filter size, shared with several standard-size models. Confirm compatibility for the exact model and accessory; do not assume XL filters or every third-party cap are interchangeable.
Check the retailer's included accessories and paper quantity. Replacement papers are an ongoing cost in the standard workflow.
Clear versus Go
The original review describes the Go as a smaller 8oz travel-focused brewer with an integrated mug-and-packing system, compared with the Clear's listed 10oz format.
Check the specific Go edition and bundle before comparing. If home or office brewing is the priority, the Clear-versus-Original choice may be more relevant than travel accessories.
Clear versus French press
The Bodum Chambord uses immersion and reusable mesh, generally leaving more oils and fine particles in the drink. The Clear's standard paper-filtered routine offers a different texture and smaller-batch workflow.
Choose according to serving needs, filtration and how you prefer to prepare coffee, rather than a universal ranking.
Who is it for?
The Clear suits someone who usually brews for themselves, wants to explore adjustable manual recipes and specifically likes a transparent chamber.
If visibility does not matter, compare the Original's current price. If several large mugs are the norm, compare larger-capacity systems. If integrated travel storage matters, compare a travel-specific version.
Cleaning and storage
After brewing, remove the cap and eject the used paper and grounds safely as instructed. Rinse and periodically clean the seal and other components to remove accumulated oils.
The source records dishwasher suitability and guidance to clean the silicone seal with warm water and washing-up liquid. Follow the current model's care instructions for disassembly and placement.
For storage, the source records advice to push the seal completely through the chamber rather than leave it compressed inside. Confirm that guidance in your supplied instructions and inspect components for wear.
Keep brewing upright
The original review records AeroPress's advice against inverted brewing because an upside-down brewer can be unstable and expose the user to hot liquid. Learn and adapt the standard upright method rather than flipping a hot brewer.
Our take
The Clear has a straightforward reason to exist: the standard AeroPress concept with a transparent Tritan body. It lets you see the process without turning transparency into a promise of better coffee.
Choose it if that material and appearance appeal, confirm the capacity and included accessories, then develop a measured upright routine.
